CONSIDERING COLLEGE

Ms. Barnes’s Career Development Class

 

In class, we have been studying the career development process. Choosing a college major, deciding on the right career, and determining what school to attend can be an overwhelming experience. This class has giving you the chance to explore and learn about various majors and job shadow a few professionals. Now that you have some clarity on your plans you are to research at least 2 colleges you would like to attend. From the resources below gather information about the school’s admission requirements, your particular major requirements, explain why you choose that major and finally how this particular school will assist in your career development. The paper should be no more than 5 pages long and sources should be properly documented in APA format.

This site assists students in identifying majors that fit them best. Students will take an assessment and be shown both possible majors and colleges that offer them. If you are still unsure of your major and need some assurance, as well as what particular school offer your area of interest than use this site.

College Foundation of North Carolina: http://www.cfnc.org/index.jsp

This site helps students from elementary school to college prepare for their educational future. This site provides resources on paying for college, researching colleges, majors, and careers, webinars, and so much more. This will be a valuable resource to link you to all the colleges in North Carolina.

College Board:  http://www.collegeboard.org/

This site is similar to the CFNC site. It contains resources about different colleges, information about advance placement classes, and an area devoted to the SAT. It allows individuals to create a customized college plan.
